Roman soldiers ask John the Baptist, 'What about us?'

'Some soldiers were questioning him, saying, 'And what about us, what shall we do?'

And he said to them, 'Do not take money from anyone by force, or accuse anyone falsly, and be content with your wages.'

-Luke 3:14

Rescue those being slaughtered

'Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

If you say, "Behold, we did not know this" does not he who weighs the heart perceive  it?'

-Proverbs 24:11ff

Photo: PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION NIGHT, November 3, 2020:

Before the lights went out, i.e. the networks announced ballot counting had 'stopped' for the night.

Trump had just taken the electoral vote lead (212-209)

with seemingly insurmountable wide margin leads for Trump in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvannia

(see ABC screenshot photo, upper, R) with 53%, 70% and 61% (respectively) expected votes in.

Like Seabiscuit, Trump's comeback lead from an initial electoral count of 136 to Biden's 205

was dramatic. InterChurch News tweeted a projected Trump win* at 9:32 PST --

Trump tweeted a forthcoming announcement --

and then 'the lights went out.'

-Screenshots: InterChurch News/ABC News

  • *The first news site to project Trump win on Twitter, InterChurch News electoral tally of 297
  • mistakenly included Pennsylvannia (20 electoral votes) twice --
  • but Trump still wins at 277.

'Prayer of a Soldier' -penned by Martin Luther

'Dear God, you see that I must go to war. I would surely rather keep out of it. I do not rely and trust in the righteous cause,

but upon your grace and mercy. I will not wage war against you, neither will I be in an army that robs God

of the things that are God's ...'
